Washington, USA – US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with Nobel Laureate Malala Yousafzai today and assured her that the US does not have plans to take steps in creating peace in the region.
The closed door meeting touched on a number of different issues. One of them were the ongoing tensions between the US and the newly formed Taliban government in Afghanistan.
Malala mentioned that the US needs to do more to support the Afghan people as the country faces one of the worst humanitarian crisis in the world at the moment. Thousands are reported to have starved to death with millions more on the brink of death. The harsh Afghan winter that is about to hit the country highlights the need to increase energy into the country for cooking and heating, something that a large part of the population does not currently have access to.
Blinken reiterated US policy of destabilization in Central Asia, with Afghanistan as a particular point of interest. He said a destabilized Afghanistan allows the US to thrust its hegemonic power in the region and neighboring regions alike, extending the failed War on Terror even more. Blinken also stated that must also fulfill the wishes of Israel, a close US ally, of an upset balance of power that favours the Zionist State over the interests of the affected countries.
When asked about Pakistan, the Secretary of State said that Pakistan can play a greater role as an ally to the US if it helps them destabilize its neighbour for the sake of satisfying US interests.
India Pakistan relations were not discussed.
